Mr. Anand has appeared in over 3,000 cases in over 43 years of practice as an intellectual property (IP) lawyer, covering all facets of IP. He has been involved in several patent lawsuits that have transformed the pharmaceutical and biotechnology enforcement regime in India.
Mr. Anand has also broken new ground in Indian IP jurisprudence by appearing in the country’s first anti-anti-suit injunction, first pro tem security order, first post-trial standard-essential patent judgment, first Anton Piller order, first Mareva injunction, and first Norwich Pharmacal order.
He is the chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Sub-Committee on Intellectual Property Rights and the National Council on Intellectual Property Rights at the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, and has served on the board of directors of the International Trademark Association (INTA). Mr. Anand was the first Indian legal practitioner to receive the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property’s Award of Merit, in 2012, and won the INTA President’s Award in 2021.
