Michael is the head of the Shenzhen branch of Chang Tsi & Partners, specialising in patent infringement, copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and unfair competition litigation, and the enforcement of intellectual property (IP) rights through administrative procedures and patent invalidation proceedings. Michael has a unique understanding of mobile telecommunications patent litigation, software patent litigation, and copyright litigation related to the internet.
He obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in materials science from Wuhan Technology University in 1996 and 1999, respectively. Michael also pursued a juris master/juris doctor degree at Peking University, School of Transnational Law, in 2014, where he studied Chinese and US law. Prior to practising law, he spent ten years in the mobile telecommunications field, and founded a company specialising in mobile telecommunication services.
Michael was invited to serve as a member of the China Global Advisory Council of the International Trademark Association for 2022–23. He is a frequent speaker at IP seminars and client training courses regarding China's IP strategy.
