Few in-house counsel can boast of securing a seven-figure settlement for their company. But TJ Fox has locked in several such deals for DivX, a California-based video technology company, in just over a year.
In his role as an intellectual property and compliance counsel, Fox oversees the legal aspects of DivX’s consumer and business licensing efforts and helps manage its patent portfolio.
He also handles IP compliance disputes, including numerous arbitrations and litigations simultaneously.
His nominator says Fox is a forward-thinking advocate, noting: “He has done an outstanding job managing our IP portfolio as well as our IP compliance group.”
According to the nominator, Fox is a collaborative lawyer who enjoys working with other company representatives, including engineers, finance team members, outside auditors, and experts.
Before joining DivX in 2021, Fox worked in the business litigation section of the California Department of Justice, representing state agencies in tax, real estate, tort, and other matters.
He has also served as an associate attorney at Fenwick & West's patent litigation group, primarily defending technology companies in district courts.
Fox tells Managing IP that his experience at DivX has been very rewarding.
