Xiaolong Meng, an intellectual property counsel at Chinese electronics company TCL, has been described as a “rising star” by one of his colleagues for his case management skills and efficiency in handling major projects with other patent owners.
“Meng is very talented in dealing with global IP disputes,” his nominator tells Managing IP.
In his current role, Meng handles complex patent litigation and licensing negotiations. Before joining TCL, he dabbled in IP prosecution, open-source code compliance, and copyright disputes.
He has a mixed bachelor’s degree in computer science and law, which positions him well to provide insightful opinions at the technical argument stage in litigation and formulate effective invalidation strategies.
Meng is a qualified Chinese lawyer, but his willingness to grow in the profession has led him to learn patent law and practices of other countries, including the US, Germany, and Brazil.
He tells Managing IP that he feels happy and privileged to work at a colourful place where he can engage in various types of patent litigation and licensing programmes, and interact with many interesting colleagues.
He adds: “We all know IP laws and practices are changing and influenced by different jurisdictions and policies all the time.
“I will keep on studying and hope that I can make more progress in my work and substantially contribute to this field one day.”
