Awards were presented to the firms of the year in 70 national and nine regional categories, and there were also three special awards.

Notable winners included:

  • Margot Fröhlinger of the EPO and Joachim Bornkamm, formerly of the German Federal Court of Justice, who were both presented with outstanding achievement awards

  • Imperial Innovations, which received the In-House Team of the Year award

  • Finnegan, named Global Firm of the Year for the first time

  • Baker & McKenzie, Hogan Lovells, Hoyng Rokh Monegier and King & Wood Mallesons, which each picked up two awards

  • Kim & Chang, which won both awards categories in Korea
