Community rights; growing pains
The Community trade mark will soon mark its 12th anniversary. Since it was launched, the EU has seen many changes - and some of them pose challenges for the CTM system. James Nurton reports
Clara Thomson Munster was born on April 1 1996. She is a very modern European citizen: her natural parents are believed to come from Belgium or the Netherlands, while she also has ancestors in the UK, Germany, Scandinavia and other parts of Europe. These wide connections meant her birth had been eagerly awaited and was greeted with celebrations throughout the European Union and beyond.
